Wow is this weekend different to the last.. Snuggled up in my dressing gown with a nice cold glass of Chardonnay.. Mmm. And of course, I have the Olympics on in the background. I have to admit I was pretty chuffed with the opening ceremony last night, the lighting of the cauldron was just wow! An amazing idea to have the 'next generation' young athletes lighting it - it really does symbolise everything the Olympics has meant to our country, especially over the last few months. I was also priviledged enough to see the Olympic torch during the relay as it came through my hometown. I think it'll be a moment I'll never forget, an absolute once in a lifetime experience! I'm definitely proud to be British right now.
So today I've done a little bit of work on my angel and demons book - now tentatively named 'On Her Wings.' I even designed a cover! It's been a work in progress for at least a month now so I'm considering spending a week working on that book alone, then starting Lily's last book. I love writing about romance, and the point I'm at in 'On Her Wings' is at the budding romance stage. I love it.
I'm overwhelmed by the responses I've had to The Mauve Legacy series - even The Beginning Of The End already. Despite there being problems with Smashwords ePub conversion people are still downloading it. All three books are also available on Obooko.com. Books one and two have also hit number 16 and 17 on the Apple iBooks top 100 free fantasy books. I'm not too proud to say I keep checking it, just to see my books there. It's completely amazing to me. It's proof that dreams really can come true - even if I'm only a self-published author. Who knows, one day I may become a traditionally published author!
I'm hoping that'll be the case with 'Breaking Free', a novel I'm currently writing based on my own experiences as a teenager. I didn't have the easiest time of it and recently had a pretty intense counselling course to help me deal with it. I really believe this novel is my way of completely letting my past go. It's taking a long time to write because it's incredibly hard to relive memories I've buried more times than I care to count! Yet, I'm hoping it'll be the novel that I can one day see on the shelves.
Everyone has dreams, it's just about making dreams a reality - and I firmly believe if you really put your mind to it, anything is possible. (Except maybe flying!)
I've always loved reading and writing and I've finally found my forte - writing about make believe worlds - and the responses I've received just amaze me. I don't think I'll ever tire of the blog comments, reviews or e-mails!
